Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding a piano in her attic and being fascinated by the sounds it would make. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes urged her to use music for development of her own, not for the purpose of making money or for to pursue an interest. To achieve this she started writing her own new compositions. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had informed her that her music would not just help her achieve fame but also make others see their importance to the world and appreciate what can be done with them, she decided to begin singing in public. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public in order to make people aware of the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. Family members didn't even know about this until she reached the age of 14. It was never a dream to be Aurora. The singer says that she simply likes creating songs. According to her, she believes that music can help any person feel better.
